MCO 112 Health Information Management II Methodologies/Reimbursement3 Credits (3 Lecture, 0 Lab, 0 Shop)3 Hrs/Wk (3Hrs. Lecture) * 15 weeksBuilding upon the framework of HIM I, this course will address all types and levels of the Healthcare Delivery Systems and the respective reimbursement methodologies to include the prospective payment system, diagnosis related groups, ambulatory payment classifications and ASC groups. The role of resource based relative valve scale, managed care/capitation, third party payors, billing and insurance procedures, and Quality Improvement Organizations in the payment process will be studied. Practices such as helath plan coding and claims processing, development and charge maintenance, auditing and monitoriung the coding process for regulatory compliance will be discussed in detail
