MAT 109 Quantitative Analysis
3 Credits (3 Lecture 0 Lab 0 Shop)
3 Hrs/Wk (3 Hrs. Lecture) *15 wks
This course provides a foundation in critical thinking, problem solving, and mathematical applications aligned with citizenship, workforce and real-world applications. The goal of the course is to engage students in meaningful mathematical experiences that will increase the student’s quantitative reasoning and problem-solving abilities and strengthen the mathematical abilities that they will encounter in other disciplines. A focus of the course is to develop and support communication and collaboration skills through project-based learning. The course topics include solving linear equations, formulas, radicals, the U.S. and international units of measurement, descriptive statistics and interpreting graphs, geometry of some common geometric shapes and the Pythagorean Theorem.
