INS 211 The Asian Tradition3 Credits (3 Lecture 0 Lab 0 Shop)3 Hrs/Wk (3 Hrs. Lecture) *15 wksThe Asian Tradition will provide students with an overview of the largest continent starting with the religion, history, and literature of Ancient India and the Chinese Dynasties, and continue through medieval Asia with the emergence of Japan and Southeast Asia. Because of Asia’s vast size, the development of the various cultures was distinct. Unique art, literature, and religious traditions emerged, but the extraordinary diversity was often accompanied with mistrust and conflict. The course ends with an examination of modern Asia and an investigation of how the volatile current events (India/Pakistan, North/South Korea, China/Tibet, China/Taiwan,) are the product of ages-old cultural traditions. Prerequisite: Meet the ENG 105 prerequisites.
