Description

Course Description:
Introduction to Phlebotomy is a combination of lecture, lab and hands-on practical experience aimed at developing skills needed to work in an entry level position in medical facilities in specimen management or as a phlebotomist.

Coursework includes
•selecting and preparing the skin puncture site,
•collecting specimens,
•adhering to the proper health and safety guidelines,
•patient/technician relationship, and
•clerical duties associated with proper record keeping of laboratory tests.
Upon completion, students may qualify for employment in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices and other health care settings.

Students must pay for this class in full when registering; there are no payment plans and federal financial aid cannot be used for non-credit classes.
