BIO 222 Genetics

3 Hrs/Wk (3 Hrs. Lecture) *15 wks
This introductory course is designed to explore the fundamental concepts of genetics. The first part of the course focuses on the basic principles of classical (Mendelian) genetics; including the nature of hereditary factors and the mechanisms by which they are transmitted and expressed. The latter part of the course covers modern discover ies and techniques that have a foundation in molecular biology. Prerequisites: Either Biology 101 and 102, General Biology with Laboratory with a C or higher , or BIO 115 and 116 Anatomy and Physiology I with Laboratory with a C or higher or BIO 131/132, Biology 1 Lecture and Lab with a grade of C or higher.
