Lecture) *15 wksThis course will introduce the structure and institutions of American national government, as well as the dynamics associated with it. Students will study and analyze various topics including the founding period, the separation of powers, the constitution, the federal system, public opinion and the mass media, campaigns and elections, political parties, interest groups, Congress, the presidency, the bureaucracy, the judiciary, public policies, civil liberties, civil rights and international and defense policies.
