ELT 271 Industrial Robotics3 Credits (2 lecture 1 Lab 0 Shop)4 Hrs/Wk (2 Hrs. Lecture 2 Hrs. Lab) *15 wksThis course is a study of industrial robotic systems. Students examine practical applications typically found in automated industries. Particular emphasis is placed on microcomputer programming of a robot manipulator. A Teach Pendant is used to manually operate an industrial robotic arm. Visual BASIC, and ASCII editors are used to program robots in the native language. This course examines industrial robot terminology, manipulator arm geometry, robot classification, work envelope, and end-effectors. Parallel and serial personal computer communication is included. Co-requisite: ELT-221.
