    Description

    CHY 121 General Chemistry I
    3 Credits (3 Lecture 0 Lab 0 Shop)
    3 Hrs/Wk (3 Hrs. Lecture) *15 wks
    This course is the first of a two-semester course that prepares students for further study in chemistry or other sciences or engineering. Students are introduced to the study of matter, atomic theory, energy, chemical reactions and calculations involved with them. The electronic structure of atoms is used to provide insight into periodic properties, chemical bonding and molecular structure. The study of molecular orbital theory and gases conclude the first semester. Pre-requisite: Readiness for or completion of MAT-122. Co-requisite: CHY-122
